Target Description: A cluster of genes, BAT1-BAT5, has been localized in the vicinity of the genes for TNF alpha and TNF beta. This gene is found near this cluster; it was mapped near the gene for C2 within a 120-kb region that included a HSP70 gene pair. These genes are all within the human major histocompatibility complex class III region. This gene was thought to be two different genes, NG36 and G9a, adjacent to each other but a recent publication shows that there is only a single gene. The protein encoded by this gene is thought to be involved in intracellular protein-protein interaction.A cluster of genes, BAT1-BAT5, has been localized in the vicinity of the genes for TNF alpha and TNF beta. There are three alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene but only two are fully described.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a methyltransferase that methylates lysine residues of histone H3. Methylation of H3 at lysine 9 by this protein results in recruitment of additional epigenetic regulators and repression of transcription. This gene was initially thought to be two different genes, NG36 and G9a, adjacent to each other in the HLA locus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Uniprot Description
EHMT2 iso4: Histone methyltransferase. Preferentially methylates 'Lys-9' of histone H3 and 'Lys-27' of histone H3 (in vitro). H3 'Lys-9' methylation represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression by recruiting HP1 proteins to methylated histones. Probably targeted to histone H3 by different DNA-binding proteins like E2F6, MGA, MAX and/or DP1. Also methylates histone H1. Belongs to the histone-lysine methyltransferase family. Suvar3-9 subfamily. Part of the E2F6.com-1 complex in G0 phase composed of E2F6, MGA, MAX, TFDP1, CBX3, BAT8, EUHMTASE1, RING1, RNF2, MBLR, L3MBTL2 and YAF2. Interacts with GFI1B, WIZ and EHMT1. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

The EHMT2 antibody - N-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's EHMT2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Chromatin IP (ChIP), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EHMT2 ehmt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: VQSLAMRLLS MPGAQGAAAA GSEPPPATTS PEGQPKVHRA RKTMSKPGNG. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EHMT2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
