NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the doublecortin family. The protein encoded by this gene contains two doublecortin domains. The doublecortin domain has been demonstrated to bind tubulin and enhance microtubule polymerization. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Uniprot Description

DCDC2: May be involved in neuronal migration during development of the cerebral neocortex. Defects in DCDC2 may be a cause of susceptibility to dyslexia type 2 (DYX2); also known as specific reading disability type 2. Dyslexia is a relatively common, complex cognitive disorder that affects 5% to 10% of school-aged children. The disorder is characterized by an impairment of reading performance despite adequate motivational, educational and intellectual opportunities and in the absence of sensory or neurological disability. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Biological Process: nervous system development; dendrite morphogenesis; neuron migration; visual learning; positive regulation of smoothened signaling pathway

Product Notes

The Dcdc2 dcdc2 (Catalog #AAA9209396) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 373-400. The Mouse Dcdc2 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Dcdc2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Dcdc2 dcdc2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Dcdc2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
