Related Product Information for anti-CTSB antibody
Cathepsin B is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase synthesized as a zymogen of 39-47 kilodaltons (kD), which is subsequently converted into an active single- chain form of 33 kD (CB33) and, by additional processing, into the active 2-chain form containing a heavy chain of 27-29 kD (CB(27-29)) and a light chain of 4-6 kD.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase composed of a dimer of disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, both produced from a single protein precursor. It is also known as amyloid precursor protein secretase and is involved in the proteolytic processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP). Incomplete proteolytic processing of APP has been suggested to be a causative factor in Alzheimer disease, the most common cause of dementia. Overexpression of the encoded protein, which is a member of the peptidase C1 family, has been associated with esophageal adenocarcinoma and other tumors. At least five transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CTSB: Thiol protease which is believed to participate in intracellular degradation and turnover of proteins. Has also been implicated in tumor invasion and metastasis. Dimer of a heavy chain and a light chain cross-linked by a disulfide bond. Interacts with SRPX2. Belongs to the peptidase C1 family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Protease; EC 3.4.22.1; Autophagy

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p22

Product Notes

The CTSB ctsb (Catalog #AAA248791) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human CTSB / Cathepsin B reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CTSB / Cathepsin B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Flo (1:10 - 1:50), IHC-P (10 ug/ml), WB (1:1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CTSB ctsb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTSB / Cathepsin B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
