Biological Significance
COX proteins are membrane-associated heme proteins that have cyclooxygenase and peroxidase activities. These enzymes are targets of NSAID such as aspirin. Prostaglandins formed by the enzymatic activity of COX-1 are primarily involved in the regulation of homeostatic functions throughout the body, whereas PGs formed by COX-2 primarily mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. COX-1 is constitutively expressed, with particularly high expression in gastrointestinal tissues. COX-2 is induced by cytokines and mitogens and is likely to play a role in inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. In rodents and humans, COX-3 encodes proteins with completely different amino acid sequences than COX-1 or COX-2 and without COX activity. It has been suggested COX-3 as the key to unlocking the mystery of the mechanism of action of acetaminophen.
Cross-Reactivity
Mouse
Immunogen
COX3 antibody was raised in Rabbit using synthetic peptide mapping to the N-terminus of mouse Cox-3 as the immunogen.

Product Notes

The COX3 cox3 (Catalog #AAA5302381) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's COX3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 0.5-4 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COX3 cox3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "COX3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
