Related Product Information for anti-CD8 antibody
The T cell receptor (TCR) is a heterodimer composed of either alpha and beta or gamma and delta chains. CD3 chains and the CD4 or CD8 (CD8-alpha and CD8-beta) co-receptors are also required for efficient signal transduction through the TCR. The TCR is expressed on T helper and T cytotoxic cells that can be distinguished by their expression of CD4 and CD8 proteins; T helper cells express CD4 proteins and T cytotoxic cells display CD8 proteins. CD8s are cell surface glycoproteins that exist as two chain complex (alphaalpha or alphabeta) receptors that bind class I MHC molecules presented by the antigen-presenting cell (APC). A primary function of CD8 proteins is to facilitate antigen recognition by the TCR and to strengthen the avidity of the TCR-antigen interactions. An additional role for CD8-expressing T cells may be to maintain low levels of HIV expression.

NCBI Description

The CD8 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system. The CD8 antigen acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor on the T lymphocyte to recognize antigens displayed by an antigen presenting cell in the context of class I MHC molecules. The coreceptor functions as either a homodimer composed of two alpha chains or as a heterodimer composed of one alpha and one beta chain. Both alpha and beta chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains. This gene encodes the CD8 alpha chain. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]

Product Notes

The CD8 cd8a (Catalog #AAA3012437) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CD8 alpha Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD8 alpha can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:1,000-1:2,000 ICC: 1:50-1:200 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD8 cd8a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD8 alpha, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
