NCBI Description

This gene encodes a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin-containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2015]

Uniprot Description

CCT-zeta-2: Molecular chaperone; assists the folding of proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. Known to play a role, in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin. Belongs to the TCP-1 chaperonin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Chaperone

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q12

Cellular Component: chaperonin-containing T-complex

Molecular Function: unfolded protein binding; ATP binding; protein transporter activity

Biological Process: protein transport; protein folding; spermatogenesis; chaperone-mediated protein complex assembly

Product Notes

The CCT6B cct6b (Catalog #AAA9611640) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CCT6B Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat Predicted: Pig, Bovine, Horse, Sheep, Rabbit and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CCT6B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCT6B cct6b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CCT6B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
