Background: Chemokines play important roles in inflammation and critical for the recruitment of effector immune cells to sites of infection. Chemokines activate leukocytes by binding to G protein coupled receptors. The ever-growing chemokine receptor subtypes can be divided into 2 major groups, CXCR and CCR, based on the 2 major classes of chemokines. One of the CCR receptors, CCR3 (eotaxin receptor), is expressed on eosinophils and certain T cell population respond to a variety of CC chemokines apart from eotaxin, including RANTES, monocyte chemotactic protein (MCP)-2, MCP-3, and MCP-4. CCR3 facilitated infection by a more restricted subset of primary viruses, and binding of the CCR3 ligand, eotaxin, and inhibited infection by these isolates.

NCBI Description

chemokine receptor; may have a role in inflammation and HIV infection [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

CCR3: Receptor for a C-C type chemokine. Binds to eotaxin, eotaxin-3, MCP-3, MCP-4, RANTES and MIP-1 delta. Subsequently transduces a signal by increasing the intracellular calcium ions level. Alternative coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Protein type: Receptor, cytokine; GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Cellular Component: extracellular space; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; endosome

Molecular Function: C-C chemokine receptor activity; chemokine receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; positive regulation of angiogenesis; mast cell chemotaxis; eosinophil chemotaxis; positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation; inflammatory response; chemotaxis

Product Notes

The CCR3 ccr3 (Catalog #AAA840280) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CCR3 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CCR3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting (0.5-4 ug/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCR3 ccr3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CCR3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
