CCDC91 (Coiled-Coil Domain Containing 91, also known as p56 and HSD8) is a Protein Coding gene. The CCDC91 gene, located on 12p11.22, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, and chicken. CCDC91 is involved in the regulation of membrane traffic through the trans-Golgi network (TGN), and functions in close cooperation with the GGAs in the sorting of hydrolases to lysosomes. This gene is widely expressed in the testis, thyroid, and other tissues. Diseases associated with CCDC91 include Ossification Of The Posterior Longitudinal Ligament Of Spine and Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis. 3 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported.
