NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the caspase recruitment domain-containing NLR family. Family members play essential roles in innate immune response to a wide range of pathogenic organisms, tissue damage and other cellular stresses. Mutations in this gene result in autoinflammation with infantile enterocolitis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
Uniprot Description
NLRC4: Key component of inflammasomes that indirectly senses specific proteins from pathogenic bacteria and fungi and responds by assembling an inflammasome complex that promotes caspase-1 activation, cytokine production and macrophage pyroptosis. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Apoptosis
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p22.3
Cellular Component: cytosol; nucleus; spindle microtubule
Molecular Function: ATP binding; cysteine protease inhibitor activity; identical protein binding; magnesium ion binding; protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; ubiquitin-protein ligase activity
Biological Process: activation of innate immune response; activation of NF-kappaB transcription factor; caspase activation; defense response to bacterium; detection of bacterium; inflammatory response; innate immune response; interleukin-1 beta secretion; positive regulation of apoptosis; protein homooligomerization; regulation of apoptosis; regulation of signal transduction

Product Notes
The CARD12 nlrc4 (Catalog #AAA668562) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to CARD12 (IPAF/ClAN) reacts with Human Predicted: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CARD12 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1: 1000-1: 2000 IHC (paraffin): 1: 1000-1: 5000 IP: 1: 50-1: 200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CARD12 nlrc4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CARD12, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
