Cancerous inhibitor of protein phosphatase 2A (CIP2A), also known as p90 autoantigen or KIAA1524, is a cellular tumor suppressor which inhibits cell proliferation and transformation of normal cells to malignant cancer cells. It has a calculated molecular mass of 102.2 kD and has a 255-amino acid coiled-coil region at its C terminus.[1] RT-PCR ELISA detected moderate expression in fetal liver and low expression in adult liver, spleen, ovary, and whole brain, as well as in all specific brain regions examined. CIP2A is also over expressed in prostate cancer, lung cancer [2], oral squamous cell carcinoma, and gastric cancer [3]. Furthermore, the expression of CIP2A correlates with breast cancer aggressivity. [4]
