Biological Significance
C2ta is essential for transcriptional activity of the HLA class II promoter; activation is via the proximal promoter. No DNA binding of in vitro translated CIITA was detected. C2ta may act in a coactivator-like fashion through protein-protein interactions by contacting factors binding to the proximal MHC class II promoter, to elements of the transcription machinery, or both. Alternatively it may activate HLA class II transcription by modifying proteins that bind to the MHC class II promoter
Cross-Reactivity
Mouse, Rat, Dog
Immunogen
C2TA antibody was raised in rabbit using the C terminal of C2TA as the immunogen
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C, following reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the NOD-like receptor protein family. This protein acts as a transcriptional coactivator and component of the enhanceosome complex to stimulate transcription of MHC class II genes in the adaptive immune response. This protein may also regulate the transcription of MHC class I genes. Mutations in the human gene have been linked to a rare immunodeficiency, bare lymphocyte syndrome, and homozygous knockout mice exhibit many features of this disease. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]

Uniprot Description

CIITA: a non-DNA binding transactivator that functions both in constitutive and inducible MHC Class II expression. Defects are a cause of bare lymphocyte syndrome type II (BLS II), a form of severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID) characterized by a profound defect in constitutive and interferon-gamma induced MHC II expression, an absence of cellular and humoral T-cell response to antigen challenge, hypogammaglobulinemia and impaired antibody production.

Protein type: DNA-binding; Transcription, coactivator/corepressor; EC 2.7.11.1

Product Notes

The C2TA ciita (Catalog #AAA839408) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's C2TA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 0.125 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the C2TA ciita for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "C2TA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
