NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the BTG/Tob family. This family has structurally related proteins that appear to have antiproliferative properties. This encoded protein is involved in the regulation of the G1/S transition of the cell cycle. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

BTG2: Involved in cell cycle regulation. Could be involved in the growth arrest and differentiation of the neuronal precursors. Anti-proliferative protein. Modulates transcription regulation mediated by ESR1. Involved in mitochondrial depolarization and neurite outgrowth. Belongs to the BTG family.

Protein type: Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q32

Cellular Component: cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: anterior/posterior pattern formation; associative learning; central nervous system neuron development; dentate gyrus development; DNA damage response, signal transduction by p53 class mediator resulting in cell cycle arrest; DNA repair; negative regulation of cell proliferation; negative regulation of neuron apoptosis; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of translation; neurite development; protein amino acid methylation; response to DNA damage stimulus; response to electrical stimulus; response to mechanical stimulus; response to organic cyclic substance; response to peptide hormone stimulus; transcription, DNA-dependent

Product Notes

The BTG2 btg2 (Catalog #AAA767210) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BTG2 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BTG2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BTG2 btg2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BTG2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
