Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Related Product Information for anti-BMP2K antibody
There are at least 20 structurally and functionally related BMPs, which are members of the TGF-beta superfamily. BMPs were originally identified as protein regulators of cartilage and bone formation. They are also involved in embryogenesis and morphogenesis of various tissues and organs. BMPs regulate the growth, differentiation, chemotaxis and apoptosis of various cell types, including mesenchymal cells, epithelial cells, hematopoietic cells and neuronal cells. Similar to other TGF-beta family proteins, BMPs are highly conserved across animal species. BMP2K has a putative regulatory role in attenuating the program of osteoblast differentiation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

NCBI Description

This gene is the human homolog of mouse BMP-2-inducible kinase. Bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) play a key role in skeletal development and patterning. Expression of the mouse gene is increased during BMP-2 induced differentiation and the gene product is a putative serine/threonine protein kinase containing a nuclear localization signal. Therefore, the protein encoded by this human homolog is thought to be a protein kinase with a putative regulatory role in attenuating the program of osteoblast differentiation. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

BIKE: May be involved in osteoblast differentiation. Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Ser/Thr protein kinase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 2.7.11.1; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, Other; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Other group; NAK family

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q21.21

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm

Molecular Function: protein serine/threonine kinase activity; phosphatase regulator activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: regulation of catalytic activity; protein amino acid phosphorylation; regulation of bone mineralization

Product Notes

The BMP2K bmp2k (Catalog #AAA620831) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 Inducible Kinase (BMP-2 Inducible Protein Kinase, BMP2 Inducible Kinase, BMP2 Inducible Protein Kinase, BIKE, BMP2K, DKFZp434K0614, DKFZp434P0116, HRIHFB2017) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 Inducible Kinase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: Paraffin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BMP2K bmp2k for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 Inducible Kinase, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
