Related Product Information for anti-Bid antibody
BID (BH3-Interacting Domain Death Agonist), is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family. The BCL2 family of proteins consists of both antagonists and agonists that regulate apoptosis and compete through dimerization. By fluorescence in situ hybridization, Wang et al. (1998) mapped the human BID gene to 22q11. Luo et al. (1998) reported the purification of a cytosolic protein that induces cytochrome c release from mitochondria in response to caspase-8, the apical caspase activated by cell surface death receptors such as FAS and TNF.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a death agonist that heterodimerizes with either agonist BAX or antagonist BCL2. The encoded protein is a member of the BCL-2 family of cell death regulators. It is a mediator of mitochondrial damage induced by caspase-8 (CASP8); CASP8 cleaves this encoded protein, and the COOH-terminal part translocates to mitochondria where it triggers cytochrome c release. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found, but the full-length nature of some variants has not been defined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

The major proteolytic product p15 BID allows the release of cytochrome c (). Isoform 1, isoform 2 and isoform 4 induce ICE-like proteases and apoptosis. Isoform 3 does not induce apoptosis. Counters the protective effect of Bcl-2.

Product Notes

The Bid bid (Catalog #AAA1751271) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Human Bid DyLight 488 conjugated Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Bid can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). FC/FACS: 1-3ug/1x106 cells. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Bid bid for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bid, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
