beclin 1: an essential autophagy protein that has been linked to multiple processes including tumor suppression, protection against some cardiac and neurological degenerative diseases, and lifespan extension. A ubiquitous protein of the beclin family. Is part of the class III PI3K complex that induces autophagy. Expressed at elevated levels in dendrites and cell bodies of cerebellar Purkinje cells. Interacts with the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2, which inhibits autophagy when it is present in the endoplasmic reticulum. The dissociation of ATG6 from Bcl-2 is essential for its autophagic activity. Interacts with PITC and GluR-delta2. Probably forms a complex with AMBRA1 and PIK3C3. Plays a role in antiviral host defense. Protects against infection by a neurovirulent strain of Sindbis virus.

The Becn1 becn1 (Catalog #AAA840715) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Beclin 1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Beclin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting (0.5-2 ug/ml). However, the optimal concentrations should be determined individually. Other applications have not been tested. The antibody recognizes ~53 kDa beclin 1 in Jurkat cell lysate. A weak band of ~110 kDa (possibly dimer) can also be observed in Jurkat cells. In mouse intestine tissue lysate, the antibody recognizes a ~100 kDa band (possibly dimer). Reactivity to other species has not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Becn1 becn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Beclin 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening.
