NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the Bar subclass of homeobox transcription factors. Studies of the mouse and chick homolog suggest the encoded protein may play a role in developing teeth and craniofacial mesenchyme of neural crest origin. The protein may also be associated with differentiation of stomach epithelia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

BARX1: Transcription factor, which is involved in craniofacial development, in odontogenesis and in stomach organogenesis. May have a role in the differentiation of molars from incisors. Plays a role in suppressing endodermal Wnt activity. Binds to a regulatory module of the NCAM promoter. Belongs to the BAR homeobox family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA-binding; Transcription factor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q12

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: sequence-specific DNA binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: anterior/posterior pattern formation; spleen development; negative regulation of Wnt receptor signaling pathway; epithelial cell differentiation; transcription, DNA-dependent; cell-cell signaling; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent

Product Notes

The BarX1 barx1 (Catalog #AAA6464957) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BarX1, ID (Homeobox Protein BarH-like 1) (FITC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's BarX1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:10-1:50 ELISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BarX1 barx1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BarX1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
