NCBI Description

The SLC1A5 gene encodes a sodium-dependent neutral amino acid transporter that can act as a receptor for RD114/type D retrovirus (Larriba et al., 2001 [PubMed 11781704]).[supplied by OMIM, Jan 2011]

Uniprot Description

Sodium-dependent amino acids transporter that has a broad substrate specificity, with a preference for zwitterionic amino acids. It accepts as substrates all neutral amino acids, including glutamine, asparagine, and branched-chain and aromatic amino acids, and excludes methylated, anionic, and cationic amino acids (PubMed:8702519). Through binding of the fusogenic protein syncytin-1/ERVW-1 may mediate trophoblasts syncytialization, the spontaneous fusion of their plasma membranes, an essential process in placental development (PubMed:10708449, PubMed:23492904).

Product Notes

The ASCT2 slc1a5 (Catalog #AAA8292367) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ASCT2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ASCT2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1/500 - 1/2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ASCT2 slc1a5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ASCT2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
