NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the GTPase activating protein family which activates a GTPase belonging to the RAS superfamily of small GTP-binding proteins. The encoded protein is insulin-responsive, is dependent on the kinase Akt and requires the Akt-dependent 14-3-3 binding protein which binds sequentially to two serine residues. The result of these interactions is regulation of cell motility. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

ARHGAP22: Rho GTPase-activating protein involved in the signal transduction pathway that regulates endothelial cell capillary tube formation during angiogenesis. Acts as a GTPase activator for the RAC1 by converting it to an inactive GDP-bound state. Inhibits RAC1-dependent lamellipodia formation. May also play a role in transcription regulation via its interaction with VEZF1, by regulating activity of the endothelin-1 (EDN1) promoter. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: GAPs, Rac/Rho; GAPs

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q11.22

Cellular Component: focal adhesion; nucleus; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; GTPase activator activity

Biological Process: regulation of small GTPase mediated signal transduction; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; angiogenesis; cell differentiation; positive regulation of GTPase activity

Product Notes

The ARHGAP22 arhgap22 (Catalog #AAA6274873) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ARHGAP22, CT (ARHGAP22, RHOGAP2, Rho GTPase-activating protein 22, Rho-type GTPase-activating protein 22) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ARHGAP22 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ARHGAP22 arhgap22 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ARHGAP22, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
