Related Product Information for anti-Aqp1 antibody
Background Info: Detects ~28.5kDa. May detect larger glycosylated bands ~35-50kDa.

Scientific Background: Aquaporins selectively conduct water molecules in and out of the cell, while preventing the passage of ions and other solutes. Known as water channels, they are integral membrane pore proteins (1, 2). Aquarporin 1 is a widely expressed water channel, found in the basolateral and apical plasma membranes of the proximal tubes, the descending loop of Henel and in the descending portion of the vasa recta. Additionally it is found in red blood cells, vascular endothelium, gastrointestinal tract, sweat glands and lungs. It is not regulated by vasopressin (3).

NCBI Description

integral membrane protein that is a major water transport molecule in the kidney proximal tubule and red blood cells [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

AQP1: Forms a water-specific channel that provides the plasma membranes of red cells and kidney proximal tubules with high permeability to water, thereby permitting water to move in the direction of an osmotic gradient. Belongs to the MIP/aquaporin (TC 1.A.8) family.

Product Notes

The Aqp1 aqp1 (Catalog #AAA805974) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Aquaporin 1 Antibody: Alkaline Phosphatase reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aquaporin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF). WB 1:1000-4000, IF: 1:200-400. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Aqp1 aqp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aquaporin 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
