Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Apolipoprotein L1/APOL1 detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P, Direct ELISA in Human.

Background: Apolipoprotein L1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the APOL1 gene. It is mapped to 22q12.3. This gene encodes a secreted high density lipoprotein which binds to apolipoprotein A-I. Apolipoprotein A-I is a relatively abundant plasma protein and is the major apoprotein of HDL. It is involved in the formation of most cholesteryl esters in plasma and also promotes efflux of cholesterol from cells. This apolipoprotein L family member may play a role in lipid exchange and transport throughout the body, as well as in reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver. Several different transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Uniprot Description

APOL1: May play a role in lipid exchange and transport throughout the body. May participate in reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver. Defects in APOL1 are the cause of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis type 4 (FSGS4). It is a renal pathology defined by the presence of segmental sclerosis in glomeruli and resulting in proteinuria, reduced glomerular filtration rate and edema. Renal insufficiency often progresses to end-stage renal disease, a highly morbid state requiring either dialysis therapy or kidney transplantation. Belongs to the apolipoprotein L family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The APOL1 apol1 (Catalog #AAA1752862) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Apolipoprotein L1/APOL1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Apolipoprotein L1/APOL1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Direct ELISA (EIA). WB: 0.25-0.5ug/mL IHC-P: 0.5-1ug/mL Direct ELISA: 0.1-0.5ug/mL Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APOL1 apol1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apolipoprotein L1/APOL1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
