Related Product Information for anti-APCS antibody
The protein encoded by this gene is a glycoprotein, belonging to the pentraxin family of proteins, which has a characteristic pentameric organization. These family members have considerable sequence homology which is thought to be the result of gene duplication. The binding of the encoded protein to proteins in the pathological amyloid cross-beta fold suggests its possible role as a chaperone. This protein is also thought to control the degradation of chromatin. It has been demonstrated that this protein binds to apoptotic cells at an early stage, which raises the possibility that it is involved in dealing with apoptotic cells in vivo.

Uniprot Description

Function: Can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. May also function as a calcium-dependent lectin.

Cofactor: Binds 2 calcium ions per subunit.

Subunit structure: Homopentamer. Pentaxin (or pentraxin) have a discoid arrangement of 5 non-covalently bound subunits.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Found in serum and urine. Ref.10

Post-translational modification: N-glycosylated with a complex biantennary oligosaccharide chain with a sialic acid at the end (disialo-SAP). Monosialo-SAP as well as asioalo-SAP are also detected (Ref.10). Ref.9

Involvement in disease: SAP is a precursor of amyloid component P which is found in basement membrane and associated with amyloid deposits.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the pentaxin family.Contains 1 pentaxin domain.

Mass spectrometry: Molecular mass is 25462.5±1.1 Da from positions 20 - 223. Determined by ESI. Ref.9Molecular mass is 25463±3 Da from positions 20 - 223. Determined by MALDI. Product Notes

The APCS apcs (Catalog #AAA647035) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The APCS, CT (APCS, PTX2, Serum amyloid P-component, 9.5S alpha-1-glycoprotein, Serum amyloid P-component(1-203)) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's APCS can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APCS apcs for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "APCS, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
