NCBI Description

This gene encodes a subunit of a heterotetrameric adapter-like complex 4 that is involved in targeting proteins from the trans-Golgi network to the endosomal-lysosomal system. Mutations in this gene are associated with cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegic type 5 (CPSQ5) disorder. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

AP4B1: Subunit of novel type of clathrin- or non-clathrin- associated protein coat involved in targeting proteins from the trans-Golgi network (TGN) to the endosomal-lysosomal system. Defects in AP4B1 are the cause of cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegic type 5 (CPSQ5). CPSQ5 is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by neonatal hypotonia that progresses to hypertonia and spasticity, and severe mental retardation with poor or absent speech development. Belongs to the adaptor complexes large subunit family.

Protein type: Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13.2

Cellular Component: clathrin adaptor complex; coated pit; trans-Golgi network

Molecular Function: transporter activity; protein transporter activity

Biological Process: vesicle-mediated transport; intracellular protein transport

Disease: Spastic Paraplegia 47, Autosomal Recessive

Product Notes

The AP4B1 ap4b1 (Catalog #AAA9206522) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 492-520. The AP4B1 Antibody (Center) reacts with Human (Predicted Reactivity: Mouse) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AP4B1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AP4B1 ap4b1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AP4B1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
