Immunogen
Synthetic peptide derived from the N-terminal region of the human AMPK gamma 2 (5'-AMP-activated protein kinase, gamma-2 subunit, PRKAG2) protein, which differs from mouse by one amino acid.
Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for anti-Prkag2 antibody
5 -AMP-activated Protein Kinase (AMPK, also known as the heart-abundant protein PRKAG21), plays a key role in the regulation of energy homeostasis. AMPK acts as a metabolic stress-inducing protein kinase that switches off biosynthetic pathways when cellular ATP levels are depleted, and when 5`-AMP rises in response to fuel limitation and/or hypoxia. AMPK is activated by high AMP and low ATP via a mechanism that involves allosteric regulation, promotion of phosphorylation by an upstream protein kinase known as AMPK kinase (AMPKK), and inhibition of dephosphorylation. Activated AMPK can phosphorylate and regulate in vivo hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which are key regulatory enzymes of sterol synthesis and fatty acid synthesis, respectively. NCBI Description

predicted to act as a non-catalytic subunit of an AMP-activated protein kinase [RGD]

Uniprot Description

AMPKG2: AMP/ATP-binding subunit of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), an energy sensor protein kinase that plays a key role in regulating cellular energy metabolism. In response to reduction of intracellular ATP levels, AMPK activates energy-producing pathways and inhibits energy-consuming processes: inhibits protein, carbohydrate and lipid biosynthesis, as well as cell growth and proliferation. AMPK acts via direct phosphorylation of metabolic enzymes, and by longer-term effects via phosphorylation of transcription regulators. Also acts as a regulator of cellular polarity by remodeling the actin cytoskeleton; probably by indirectly activating myosin. Gamma non-catalytic subunit mediates binding to AMP, ADP and ATP, leading to activate or inhibit AMPK: AMP-binding results in allosteric activation of alpha catalytic subunit (PRKAA1 or PRKAA2) both by inducing phosphorylation and preventing dephosphorylation of catalytic subunits. ADP also stimulates phosphorylation, without stimulating already phosphorylated catalytic subunit. ATP promotes dephosphorylation of catalytic subunit, rendering the AMPK enzyme inactive. AMPK is a heterotrimer of an alpha catalytic subunit (PRKAA1 or PRKAA2), a beta (PRKAB1 or PRKAB2) and a gamma non- catalytic subunits (PRKAG1, PRKAG2 or PRKAG3). Interacts with FNIP1 and FNIP2. Isoform B is ubiquitously expressed except in liver and thymus. The highest level is detected in heart with abundant expression in placenta and testis. Belongs to the 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase gamma subunit family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Prkag2 prkag2 (Catalog #AAA614412) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AMPK gamma 2 (5'-AMP-activated protein kinase, gamma-2 subunit, PRKAG2) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AMPK gamma 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Prkag2 prkag2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AMPK gamma 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
