Related Product Information for anti-Sptan1 antibody
Background: Fodrin is a universally expressed membrane-associated cytoskeletal protein consisting of alpha- and beta-subunits. The protein is important for maintaining normal membrane structure and supporting cell surface protein function. alpha-Fodrin is one of the important targets cleaved by caspases during apoptosis. The full length 240 kDa protein can be cleaved at several sites within its sequence by activated caspases generating N-terminal 150 kDa, C-terminal 120 kDa, and 35 kDa major products. Cleavage of alpha-Fodrin leads to membrane malfunction and cell shrinkage.

Uniprot Description

SPTAN1: a cytoskeletal protein which seems to be involved in secretion, interacts with calmodulin in a calcium-dependent manner and is thus candidate for the calcium-dependent movement of the cytoskeleton at the membrane. Capable to forming dimers which can further associate to tetramers.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal; Adaptor/scaffold; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Cellular Component: cortical cytoskeleton; protein complex; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; paranode region of axon; fascia adherens; Z disc; microtubule cytoskeleton; cytoskeleton; membrane; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; myelin sheath; lateral plasma membrane; vesicle

Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; protein binding; syntaxin binding; spectrin binding; protein heterodimerization activity; metal ion binding; protein complex binding; protein N-terminus binding; calcium ion binding; actin binding

Biological Process: actin filament capping; actin cytoskeleton reorganization

Product Notes

The Sptan1 sptan1 (Catalog #AAA841239) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The alpha-Fodrin Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's alpha-Fodrin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western blot analysis (0.5-4 ug/ml) and in in Immunohistochemistry (10-20 ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Sptan1 sptan1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "alpha-Fodrin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
