Related Product Information for anti-AMY1A antibody
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Alpha-amylase 1(AMY1A) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human, Mouse, Rat.
Background: Amylase is an enzyme that catalyses the breakdown of starch into sugars. Amylase is present in human saliva, where it begins the chemical process of digestion. By in situ hybridization combined with high resolution cytogenetics, the amylase gene is mapped to 1p21.Amylase enzymes find use in bread making and to break down complex sugars such as starch(found in flour) into simple sugars. Yeast then feeds on these simple sugars and converts it into the waste products of alcohol and CO2.

NCBI Description

Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1,4-alpha-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides, and thus catalyze the first step in digestion of dietary starch and glycogen. The human genome has a cluster of several amylase genes that are expressed at high levels in either salivary gland or pancreas. This gene encodes an amylase isoenzyme produced by the salivary gland. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

AMY1: Monomer. Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 13 family.

Protein type: Hydrolase; Carbohydrate Metabolism - starch and sucrose; Secreted; EC 3.2.1.1; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p21

Cellular Component: extracellular space

Molecular Function: alpha-amylase activity; protein binding; metal ion binding

Biological Process: carbohydrate metabolic process; digestion

Product Notes

The AMY1A amy1a (Catalog #AAA175466) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Alpha Amylase 1 antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Alpha Amylase 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. WB: 0.1-0.5ug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Mouse, Rat IHC-P: 0.5-1ug/ml; Tested Species: Rat; Predicted Species: Rat; Antigen Retrieval: By Heat Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. Predicted Species: Species predicted to be fit for product based on sequence similarties. By Heat: Boiling paraffin section in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6, for 20 mins is required for staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other application have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AMY1A amy1a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Alpha Amylase 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
