Related Product Information for anti-GLRA2 antibody
Function: Glycine receptors are ligand-gated chloride channels. Channel opening is triggered by extracellular glycine (PubMed:2155780, PubMed:15302677, PubMed:16144831, PubMed:23895467, PubMed:25445488). Channel opening is also triggered by taurine and beta-alanine (PubMed:15302677). Plays a role in the down-regulation of neuronal excitability. Contributes to the generation of inhibitory postsynaptic currents (PubMed:25445488). Plays a role in cellular responses to ethanol (PubMed:23895467).

Subcellular Location: Cell junction>Synapse>Postsynaptic cell membrane>Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction>Synapse. Cell membrane>Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell projection.

Subunit Structure: Homopentamer (in vitro). Interacts with GLRB (PubMed:16144831). Heteropentamer composed of GLRA2 and GLRB. Both homopentamers and heteropentamers form functional ion channels, but their characteristics are subtly different (PubMed:15302677).

Similarity: Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Glycine receptor (TC 1.A.9.3) subfamily. GLRA2 sub-subfamily.

NCBI Description

The glycine receptor consists of two subunits, alpha and beta, and acts as a pentamer. The protein encoded by this gene is an alpha subunit and can bind strychnine. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

GLRA2: The glycine receptor is a neurotransmitter-gated ion channel. Binding of glycine to its receptor increases the chloride conductance and thus produces hyperpolarization (inhibition of neuronal firing). Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Glycine receptor (TC 1.A.9.3) subfamily. GLRA2 sub- subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The GLRA2 glra2 (Catalog #AAA9612132) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GLRA2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat Predicted Reactivity: Pig(100%), Bovine(100%), Horse(100%), Sheep(100%), Rabbit(100%), Dog(100%) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's alpha 2 Glycine Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IF: 1:100-1:500 ICC: 1:100-1:500 IHC: 1:50-1:200 ELISA(peptide): 1:20,000-1:40,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GLRA2 glra2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "alpha 2 Glycine Receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
