Rabbit Agrin Polyclonal Antibody | anti-AGRN antibody
Anti-Agrin Antibody
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes one of several proteins that are critical in the development of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), as identified in mouse knock-out studies. The encoded protein contains several laminin G, Kazal type serine protease inhibitor, and epidermal growth factor domains. Additional post-translational modifications occur to add glycosaminoglycans and disulfide bonds. In one family with congenital myasthenic syndrome affecting limb-girdle muscles, a mutation in this gene was found. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Uniprot Description
AGRN: Plays a central role in the formation and the maintenance of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), the synapse between motor neuron and skeletal muscle. Ligand of the MUSK signaling complex that directly binds LRP4 in this complex and induces the phosphorylation of MUSK, the kinase of the complex. The activation of MUSK in myotubes induces the formation of NMJ by regulating different processes including the transcription of specific genes and the clustering of AChR in the postsynaptic membrane. Defects in AGRN are a cause of myasthenia, limb-girdle, familial (LGM). A congenital myasthenic syndrome characterized by a typical 'limb girdle' pattern of muscle weakness with small, simplified neuromuscular junctions but normal acetylcholine receptor and acetylcholinesterase function.

Product Notes
The AGRN agrn (Catalog #AAA821934) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Agrin Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Agrin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB (1/500 - 1/1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AGRN agrn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Agrin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
