NCBI Description

This gene encodes a homotetrameric mitochondrial flavoprotein and is a member of the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family. Members of this family catalyze the first step of fatty acid beta-oxidation, forming a C2-C3 trans-double bond in a FAD-dependent reaction. As beta-oxidation cycles through its four steps, each member of the Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family works at an optimum fatty acid chain-length. This enzyme has its optimum at C(four)-CoA. In mice, deficiency of this gene has been linked to cold sensitivity and increased high-density lipoprotein levels. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]

Uniprot Description

ACADS: Defects in ACADS are the cause of acyl-CoA dehydrogenase short-chain deficiency (ACADSD). It is an autosomal recessive disorder resulting in acute acidosis and muscle weakness in infants, and a form of lipid-storage myopathy in adults. Belongs to the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family.

Protein type: Amino Acid Metabolism - valine, leucine and isoleucine degradation; Carbohydrate Metabolism - butanoate; EC 1.3.8.1; Lipid Metabolism - fatty acid; Mitochondrial; Oxidoreductase

Product Notes

The ACADS acads (Catalog #AAA2034019) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Acyl Coenzyme A Dehydrogenase, C2-To-C3 Short Chain (ACADS) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Acyl Coenzyme A Dehydrogenase can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:50-500 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACADS acads for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Acyl Coenzyme A Dehydrogenase, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
