NCBI Description

Clathrin is a large, soluble protein composed of heavy and light chains. It functions as the main structural component of the lattice-type cytoplasmic face of coated pits and vesicles which entrap specific macromolecules during receptor-mediated endocytosis. This gene encodes one of two clathrin light chain proteins which are believed to function as regulatory elements. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CLTA: Clathrin is the major protein of the polyhedral coat of coated pits and vesicles. Belongs to the clathrin light chain family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Vesicle

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4|4 B1

Product Notes

The CLTA clta (Catalog #AAA2033867) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Clathrin, Light Polypeptide A (CLTA) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Clathrin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry in formalin fixed frozen section: 1:50-500 Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: 1:100-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLTA clta for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Clathrin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
