NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane protein that can form a non-selective channel permeable to calcium and other cations. The encoded protein appears to be induced to form channels by a receptor tyrosine kinase-activated phosphatidylinositol second messenger system and also by depletion of intracellular calcium stores. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

Function: Thought to form a receptor-activated non-selective calcium permeant cation channel. Probably is operated by a phosphatidylinositol second messenger system activated by receptor tyrosine kinases or G-protein coupled receptors. Seems to be also activated by intracellular calcium store depletion. Ref.9

Subunit structure: Interacts with TRPC4AP

By similarity. Homotetramer and heterotetramer with TRPC4 and/or TRPC5. Interacts with TRPC3, TRPC4 and TRPC5. Interacts with ITPR3. Interacts with MX1 and RNF24. Interacts with FKBP4. Ref.6 Ref.8 Ref.10 Ref.11 Ref.12

Subcellular location: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Seems to be ubiquitous.

Post-translational modification: Activation of PRKCA induces phosphorylation of TRPC1 and subsequent Ca2+ entry into cells.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the transient receptor (TC 1.A.4) family. STrpC subfamily. TRPC1 sub-subfamily. [View classification]Contains 4 ANK repeats.

Product Notes

The TRPC1 trpc1 (Catalog #AAA659642) is a Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TRPC1, Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
