Related Product Information for PCMT1 recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant human mature form of PCMT1 (2-end) was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: PCMT1 is a member of the L-isoaspartyl/D-aspartyl protein methyltransferase family, which plays an important role in protein repair (1). Downregulation of PCMT1 leads to hyperactivation of MAPK pathway upon EGF stimulation (2). PCMT1 is regulated by cell-matrix interactions, and linked to various biological processes including wound healing, cell migration, and tumor metastasis (3).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the type II class of protein carboxyl methyltransferase enzymes. The encoded enzyme plays a role in protein repair by recognizing and converting D-aspartyl and L-isoaspartyl residues resulting from spontaneous deamidation back to the normal L-aspartyl form. The encoded protein may play a protective role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, and single nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with spina bifida and premature ovarian failure. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

PCMT1: Catalyzes the methyl esterification of L-isoaspartyl and D-aspartyl residues in peptides and proteins that result from spontaneous decomposition of normal L-aspartyl and L-asparaginyl residues. It plays a role in the repair and/or degradation of damaged proteins. Acts on microtubule-associated protein 2, calreticulin, clathrin light chains a and b, Ubiquitin carboxyl- terminal hydrolase isozyme L1, phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein 1, stathmin, beta-synuclein and alpha-synuclein. Belongs to the methyltransferase superfamily. L- isoaspartyl/D-aspartyl protein methyltransferase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The PCMT1 pcmt1 (Catalog #AAA515595) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 2-end. AAA Biotech's PCMT1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Methyltransferase Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PCMT1 pcmt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PCMT1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
