Related Product Information for ODC1 active protein
ODC is pyridoxal phosphate dependent amino acid deacarboxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of ornithine to putrescine. It is the first and rate-limiting step in the polyamine biosynthetic pathway. Polyamines are involved in processes such as cell growth, differentiation and synthesis of macromolecules. Overexpression of ODC is known to play role in cancers and inflammation.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the rate-limiting enzyme of the polyamine biosynthesis pathway which catalyzes ornithine to putrescine. The activity level for the enzyme varies in response to growth-promoting stimuli and exhibits a high turnover rate in comparison to other mammalian proteins. Originally localized to both chromosomes 2 and 7, the gene encoding this enzyme has been determined to be located on 2p25, with a pseudogene located on 7q31-qter. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The ODC1 odc1 (Catalog #AAA849966) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Ornithine Decarboxylase, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
