* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Background: Transketolase (EC 2.2.1.1) is a thiamine-dependent enzyme that links the pentose phosphate pathway with the glycolytic pathway. The pentose phosphate pathway, which is active in most tissues, provides sugar phosphates for intermediary biosynthesis, especially nucleotide metabolism, and generates the biosynthetic reducing power for the cell in the form of NADPH. Transketolase is directly involved in the branch of the pathway that channels excess sugar phosphates to glycolysis, enabling the production of NADPH to be maintained under different metabolic conditions. NADPH is critical for maintaining cerebral glutathione, and thus it is likely that transketolase plays an important role in brain metabolism.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes an enzyme that binds magnesium and thiamine pyrophosphate and catalyzes the transfer of sugar phosphates to an aldose acceptor. This enzyme is a key component of the pentose phosphate pathway during glycolysis. It is significantly expressed in the cornea and may be involved in the cellular response against oxidative stress. Haploinsufficiency of this gene leads to decreased growth and reduction of adipose tissue. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2013]

Product Notes
The Mouse TKT tkt (Catalog #AAA9716826) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9716826 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse TKT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transketolase (TKT), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
