Intended Uses: This ELISA kit applies to the in vitro quantitative determination of Mouse SOD3 concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses the Competitive-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with Mouse SOD3. During the reaction, Mouse SOD3 in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of Mouse SOD3 on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to Mouse SOD3. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) are added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of Mouse SOD3 in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the superoxide dismutase (SOD) protein family. SODs are antioxidant enzymes that catalyze the dismutation of two superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and oxygen. The product of this gene is thought to protect the brain, lungs, and other tissues from oxidative stress. The protein is secreted into the extracellular space and forms a glycosylated homotetramer that is anchored to the extracellular matrix (ECM) and cell surfaces through an interaction with heparan sulfate proteoglycan and collagen. A fraction of the protein is cleaved near the C-terminus before secretion to generate circulating tetramers that do not interact with the ECM. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The Mouse SOD3 sod3 (Catalog #AAA2515707) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2515707 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse SOD3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SOD3, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
