Related Product Information for NP-Y elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Mouse neuropeptide Y (also known as NP-Y) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, Ascites, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse NP-Y antibody. NP-Y present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse NP-Y Antibody is added and binds to NP-Y in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated NP-Y antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse NP-Y. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. The protein also exhibits antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]

Uniprot Description

NPY is implicated in the control of feeding and in secretion of gonadotrophin-release hormone.

Product Notes

The Mouse NP-Y npy (Catalog #AAA160387) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA160387 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse NP-Y. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "neuropeptide Y, NP-Y, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
