Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for the in vitro quantitative measurement of LOX in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to LOX. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to LOX. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain LOX, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of LOX in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a precursor protein that belongs to the lysyl oxidase family of proteins. The secreted proprotein is proteolytically processed to an active mature peptide and a propeptide. This propeptide is thought to function in tumor suppression by inhibiting the Ras signaling pathway. The active enzyme plays a role in cross-linking of collagen and elastin and is essential for development of cardiovascular and respiratory systems, and development of skin and connective tissue.
