L-Selectin Mouse ELISA Kit
Background: L-selectin, also known as CD62L, is a cell adhesion molecule found on lymphocytes. It belongs to the selectin family of proteins, which recognize sialylated carbohydrate groups. The molecule is composed of multiple domains: one homologous to lectins, one to epidermal growth factor, and two to the consensus repeat units found in C3/C4-binding proteins. L-selectin acts as a "homing receptor" for lymphocytes to enter secondary lymphoid tissues via high endothelial venules. Ligands present on endothelial cells will bind to lymphocytes expressing L-selectin, slowing lymphocyte trafficking through the blood, and facilitating entry into a secondary lymphoid organ at that point. It may also play a role in neutrophil adhesion to endothelium at sites of inflammation.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a cell surface adhesion molecule that belongs to a family of adhesion/homing receptors. The encoded protein contains a C-type lectin-like domain, a calcium-binding epidermal growth factor-like domain, and two short complement-like repeats. The gene product is required for binding and subsequent rolling of leucocytes on endothelial cells, facilitating their migration into secondary lymphoid organs and inflammation sites. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with various diseases including immunoglobulin A nephropathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
Uniprot Description
Function: Cell surface adhesion protein. Mediates the adherence of lymphocytes to endothelial cells of high endothelial venules in peripheral lymph nodes. Promotes initial tethering and rolling of leukocytes in endothelia. Ref.12
Subunit structure: Interaction with PSGL1/SELPLG and PODXL2 is required for promoting recruitment and rolling of leukocytes. This interaction is dependent on the sialyl Lewis X glycan modification of PSGL1 and PODXL2, and tyrosine sulfation modifications of PSGL1. Sulfation on 'Tyr-51' of PSGL1 is important for L-selectin binding.
Subcellular location: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Tissue specificity: Expressed in B-cell lines and T-lymphocytes. Ref.2
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the selectin/LECAM family.Contains 1 C-type lectin domain.Contains 1 EGF-like domain.Contains 2 Sushi (CCP/SCR) domains.
Sequence caution: The sequence CAA34203.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally shortened. The sequence CAB43536.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally shortened. The sequence CAB43537.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally shortened.

Product Notes
The Mouse SELL sell (Catalog #AAA355342) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA355342 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse SELL. AAA Biotech's L-Selectin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Quantitative sELISA (EIA). For quantitative detection of L-Selectin in serum, plasma, body fluids, tissue lysates or cell culture supernates. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SELL sell for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "L-Selectin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
