Related Product Information for IL-6 elisa kit
Intended Uses: The Interleukin-6 (IL-6) test kit is a highly sensitive two-site enzyme linked immunoassay (ELISA) for measuring Interleukin-6 in biological samples of Human.

Principle of the Assay: The principle of the double antibody sandwich ELISA is represented in Figure 1. In this assay the IL-6 present in samples reacts with the anti-IL-6 antibodies which have been adsorbed to the surface of polystyrene microtitre wells. After the removal of unbound IL-6 by washing, the Detection Antibody, biotin conjugated anti- IL-6, is added and complexes are formed. Following a wash step, the horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugated Streptavidin is added and complexes are formed. After another washing step, the complexes are assayed by the addition of a chromogenic substrate, 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). The quantity of bound enzyme varies directly with the concentration of IL-6 in the sample tested; thus, the absorbance, at 450 nm, is a measure of the concentration of IL-6 in the test sample. The quantity of IL-6 can be interpolated from the standard curve constructed from the standards, and corrected for sample dilution.

NCBI Description

a cytokine involved in development and possibly in neurodegenerative processes [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Cytokine with a wide variety of biological functions. It is a potent inducer of the acute phase response. Plays an essential role in the final differentiation of B-cells into Ig-secreting cells Involved in lymphocyte and monocyte differentiation. Acts on B-cells, T-cells, hepatocytes, hematopoietic progenitor cells and cells of the CNS. Required for the generation of T(H)17 cells. Also acts as a myokine. It is discharged into the bloodstream after muscle contraction and acts to increase the breakdown of fats and to improve insulin resistance. It induces myeloma and plasmacytoma growth and induces nerve cells differentiation ().

Product Notes

The Mouse IL-6 il6 (Catalog #AAA564208) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA564208 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse IL-6. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-6, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
