Related Product Information for GFAP elisa kit
Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of GFAP in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to GFAP. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to GFAP. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain GFAP, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of GFAP in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

Uniprot Description

GFAP: a class-III intermediate filament protein. A cell-specific marker that, during the development of the central nervous system, distinguishes astrocytes from other glial cells. Mutations in this gene cause Alexander disease, a rare disorder of astrocytes in the central nervous system. An additional transcript variant isoform has been described, but its full length sequence has not been determined.

Product Notes

The Mouse GFAP gfap (Catalog #AAA2087195) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2087195 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse GFAP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
