Mouse cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (non-HGNC gene) (CART) ELISA Kit | CART elisa kit
Mouse cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (non-HGNC gene) (CART) ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: CART ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-CART antibody and an CART-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with CART-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the CART concentration since CART from samples and CART-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-CART antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by CART from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind CART-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The CART concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a secreted protein which is processed by prohormone/proprotein convertases to produce smaller, biologically active peptides. Expression of the transcript for this gene is regulated by certain drugs such as cocaine, and the encoded protein is thought to be involved in the regulation of appetite and stress. Mutations in this gene are associated with susceptibility to obesity.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]
Uniprot Description
CARTPT: Satiety factor closely associated with the actions of leptin and neuropeptide y; this anorectic peptide inhibits both normal and starvation-induced feeding and completely blocks the feeding response induced by neuropeptide Y and regulated by leptin in the hypothalamus. It promotes neuronal development and survival in vitro. Belongs to the CART family.

Product Notes
The Mouse CART cartpt (Catalog #AAA7252301) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7252301 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse CART. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript (non-HGNC gene) (CART), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
