Related Product Information for BTC elisa kit
Principle of the assay: mouse BTC ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from rat specific for BTC has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(E.coli, D32-Y111) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for BTC is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the mouse BTC amount of sample captured in plate.
Background: Betacellulin, also known as BTC is a protein that in humans is encoded by the BTC gene. This gene is mapped to 4q13.3. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the EGF family of growth factors. It is synthesized primarily as a transmembrane precursor, which is then processed to mature molecule by proteolytic events. This protein is a ligand for the EGF receptor. It is the growth factor that binds to EGFR, ERBB4 and other EGF receptor family members. This protein is a potent mitogen for retinal pigment epithelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family. These growth factors are ligands for the EGFR/ErbB receptor tyrosine kinases, and play roles in cell growth and differentiation. The encoded protein is synthesized as a transmembrane precursor that is proteolytically cleaved to generate a mature peptide, and plays a role in the differentiation of pancreatic beta cells. This gene may also play a protective role in acute pancreatitis, whereas increased expression of this gene may contribute to diabetic macular edema. Gene therapy using combinations of this gene and other pancreas-specific transcription factors may induce islet neogenesis and remediate hyperglycemia in type 1 diabetes. Product Notes

The Mouse BTC btc (Catalog #AAA177297) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA177297 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse BTC. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Betacellulin/BTC, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
