Related Product Information for TFF2 elisa kit
Principle of the assay: human TFF2 ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for TFF2 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards(NSO, E24-Y129) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for TFF2 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the human TFF2 amount of sample captured in plate.
Background: Trefoil factor 2, also known as SP or SML1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TFF2 gene. This gene belongs to trefoil family, and members of the trefoil family may protect the mucosa from insults, stabilize the mucus layer, and affect healing of the epithelium. This gene is mapped to 21q22.3. TFF2 gene consists of 4 exons spanning 5.1 kb, with exons 2 and 3 encoding 1 trefoil domain each, and it is the only gene encoding 2 TFF-domains on separate exons. It has been found that the distribution of TFF2 and pS2 suggests involvement in repair-enhancing mechanisms.

NCBI Description

Members of the trefoil family are characterized by having at least one copy of the trefoil motif, a 40-amino acid domain that contains three conserved disulfides. They are stable secretory proteins expressed in gastrointestinal mucosa. Their functions are not defined, but they may protect the mucosa from insults, stabilize the mucus layer and affect healing of the epithelium. The encoded protein inhibits gastric acid secretion. This gene and two other related trefoil family member genes are found in a cluster on chromosome 21. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TFF2: Inhibits gastrointestinal motility and gastric acid secretion. Could function as a structural component of gastric mucus, possibly by stabilizing glycoproteins in the mucus gel through interactions with carbohydrate side chains.

Product Notes

The Human TFF2 tff2 (Catalog #AAA177186) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA177186 ELISA Kit recognizes Human TFF2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TFF2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
