Related Product Information for anti-VCX3A antibody
VCX-A is only expressed in testis and may play a role in spermatogenesis or in sex ratio distortion. It is a 186aa peptide that has an estimated molecular weight of ~20kD. It was recently identified that VCX-A is an inhibitor of the decapping enzyme DCP2 and that it stabilized mRNA. It is a noncanonical cap-binding protein that binds to capped RNA but not cap structures lacking RNA. Defects in VCX-A are associated with some forms of X-linked nonspecific mental retardation.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to the VCX/Y gene family, which has multiple members on both X and Y chromosomes, and all are expressed exclusively in male germ cells. The X-linked members are clustered on chromosome Xp22 and Y-linked members are two identical copies of the gene within a palindromic region on Yq11. The family members share a high degree of sequence identity, with the exception that a 30-bp unit is tandemly repeated in X-linked members but occurs only once in Y-linked members. The VCX gene cluster is polymorphic in terms of copy number; different individuals may have a different number of VCX genes. VCX/Y genes encode small and highly charged proteins of unknown function. The presence of a putative bipartite nuclear localization signal suggests that VCX/Y members are nuclear proteins. This gene contains 8 repeats of the 30-bp unit. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The VCX3A vcx3a (Catalog #AAA605618) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The VCX-A (Variable charge X-linked protein 3, Variably charged protein X-A, VCX-8r, Variable charge protein on X with eight repeats, VCX3A, VCX3, VCX8R, VCXA) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VCX-A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VCX3A vcx3a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VCX-A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
