Biological Significance
Synaptopodin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SYNPO gene. Synaptopodin is an actin-associated protein that may play a role in actin-based cell shape and motility. The name synaptopodin derives from the protein's associations with postsynaptic densities and dendritic spines and with renal podocytes.
Cross-Reactivity
Bovine, Rat, Mouse, Guinea Pig, Gerbil
Immunogen
Synaptopodin antibody was raised in mouse using Isolated rat kidney glomeruli as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

SYNPO: an actin-associated protein that may play a role in modulating actin-based shape and motility of dendritic spines and renal podocyte foot processes. Seems to be essential for the formation of spine apparatuses in spines of telencephalic neurons, which is involved in synaptic plasticity.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal; Actin-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q33.1

Cellular Component: postsynaptic membrane; tight junction; cytoplasm; postsynaptic density; stress fiber; dendritic spine; perikaryon; actin cytoskeleton

Product Notes

The Synaptopodin synpo (Catalog #AAA532881) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Synaptopodin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:5 - 1:10. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Synaptopodin synpo for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Synaptopodin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
