Mouse Shank2 Monoclonal Antibody | anti-Shank2 antibody
SHANK2 Antibody: PerCP
Western Blot (WB)
(Western Blot analysis of Rat brain membrane lysate showing detection of SHANK2 protein using Mouse Anti-SHANK2 Monoclonal Antibody, Clone S23b-6. Load: 15 ug. Block: 1.5% BSA for 30 minutes at RT. Primary Antibody: Mouse Anti-SHANK2 Monoclonal Antibody at 1:1000 for 2 hours at RT. Secondary Antibody: Sheep Anti-Mouse IgG: HRP for 1 hour at RT.)
Scientific Background: Shank proteins make up a family of scaffold proteins identified through their interaction with a variety of membrane and cytoplasmic proteins (3). Shank proteins at postsynaptic sites of excitatory synapses play roles in signal transmission into the postsynaptic neuron. Studies suggest that Shank2 is expressed in the neurons of the developing retina, and could play a role in the neuronal differentiation of the developing retina (4). Other recent studies suggest that the disruption of glutamate receptors at the Shank postsynaptic platform could contribute to the destruction of the postsynaptic density, which underlies the synaptic dysfunction and loss in Alzheimer's disease (5).
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
binds to cortactin and alpha-latrotoxin receptor and is involved in the structural and functional organization of the post synaptic density [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
SHANK2: Seems to be an adapter protein in the postsynaptic density (PSD) of excitatory synapses that interconnects receptors of the postsynaptic membrane including NMDA-type and metabotropic glutamate receptors, and the actin-based cytoskeleton. May play a role in the structural and functional organization of the dendritic spine and synaptic junction. Defects in SHANK2 are a cause of susceptibility to autism type 17 (AUTS17). Autism is a complex multifactorial, pervasive developmental disorder characterized by impairments in reciprocal social interaction and communication, restricted and stereotyped patterns of interests and activities, and the presence of developmental abnormalities by 3 years of age. Most individuals with autism also manifest moderate mental retardation. Belongs to the SHANK family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The Shank2 shank2 (Catalog #AAA804204) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SHANK2 Antibody: PerCP reacts with Mouse (weak), Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Shank2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP). 1-10ug/mL (WB), 0.1-1.0ug/mL (Perox) (IHC/ICC), 1.0-10ug/mL (IF). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Shank2 shank2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Shank2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
