NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a scaffold protein that interacts with GTP-bound Rho proteins. Binding of this protein inhibits the GTPase activity of Rho proteins. This protein may interfere with the conversion of active, GTP-bound Rho to the inactive GDP-bound form by RhoGAP. Rho proteins regulate many important cellular processes, including cytokinesis, transcription, smooth muscle contraction, cell growth and transformation. Dysregulation of the Rho signal transduction pathway has been implicated in many forms of cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
RTKN: Mediates Rho signaling to activate NF-kappa-B and may confer increased resistance to apoptosis to cells in gastric tumorigenesis. May play a novel role in the organization of septin structures. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: G protein regulator, misc.
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p13.1
Molecular Function: protein binding; GTP binding; GTP-Rho binding; GTPase inhibitor activity
Biological Process: apoptosis; negative regulation of catalytic activity; signal transduction; Rho protein signal transduction

Product Notes
The RTKN rtkn (Catalog #AAA245704) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse Monoclonal [clone 2E5] (IgG1,k) to Human RTKN / Rhotekin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RTKN / Rhotekin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). ELISA, IHC-P (10 - 20 ug/ml), WB Usage: Western Blot (Cell lysate) - positive control A-431. Sandwich ELISA (Recombinant protein). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RTKN rtkn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RTKN / Rhotekin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
