Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C (add 0.1% NaN3) for several months, and at -20 degree C for longer periods. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. RFP or red fluorescent protein from sea anemone Entacmaea quadricolor is a member of the green florescent protein family and is extensively used as a tag and reporter protein in molecular and cellular biology. RFP has a molecular weight of approximately 29kDa and an excitation and emission maxima at 559 and 611 nm (1). RFP fluoresces over a wide pHrange (4-10) with high quantum yield. Like other anthozoan fluorescent proteins, RFP forms tetramers at physiological concentrations.
