Related Product Information for anti-PTPRF antibody
PTPRF, like other members of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, is a signaling molecule that regulates a variety of cellular processes. PTPRF possesses an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains, and represents a receptor-type PTP. The extracellular region contains three Ig-like domains and nine non-Ig like domains similar to that of neural-cell adhesion molecule. PTPRF functions in the regulation of epithelial cell-cell contacts at adherents junctions as well as in the control of betacatenin signaling. An increased expression level of PTPRF has been found in the insulinresponsive tissue of obese, insulin-resistant individuals and may contribute to the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene, which encode distinct proteins, have been reported.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP possesses an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains, and thus represents a receptor-type PTP. The extracellular region contains three Ig-like domains, and nine non-Ig like domains similar to that of neural-cell adhesion molecule. This PTP was shown to function in the regulation of epithelial cell-cell contacts at adherents junctions, as well as in the control of beta-catenin signaling. An increased expression level of this protein was found in the insulin-responsive tissue of obese, insulin-resistant individuals, and may contribute to the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene, which encode distinct proteins, have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Possible cell adhesion receptor. It possesses an intrinsic protein tyrosine phosphatase activity (PTPase) and dephosphorylates EPHA2 regulating its activity.

Product Notes

The PTPRF ptprf (Catalog #AAA191363) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Protein Tyrosine phosphatase Receptor F (PTPRF) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot, Immunofluorescence (IF). Immunoblot: 1-5ug/ml. A band of ~85kDa is detected which represents the subunit containing transmembrane and intracellular domains. IF: 10ug/ml Dilute in PBS or medium that is identical to that used in the assay system. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PTPRF ptprf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein Tyrosine phosphatase Receptor F (PTPRF), Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
