NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
Phosphatidylinositolpolyphosphates (PtdInsPs) are centrally involved in many biologic processes, ranging from cell growth and organization of the actin cytoskeleton to endo- and exocytosis. PI4KII phosphorylates PtdIns at the D-4 position, an essential step in the biosynthesis of PtdInsPs (Barylko et al., 2001 [PubMed 11244087]).[supplied by OMIM]
Uniprot Description
PI4K2A: Together with PI4K2B and the type III PI4Ks (PIK4CA and PIK4CB) it contributes to the overall PI4-kinase activity of the cell. The phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol (PI) to PI4P is the first committed step in the generation of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), a precursor of the second messenger inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (InsP3). Contributes to the production of InsP3 in stimulated cells. Belongs to the PI3/PI4-kinase family. Type II PI4K subfamily.

Product Notes
The PI4K2A pi4k2a (Catalog #AAA6148844) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PI4K2A (Phosphatidylinositol 4-Kinase Type 2-alpha, Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase Type II-alpha, DKFZp761G1923, PI4KII, PIK42A, RP11-548K23.6) (FITC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PI4K2A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PI4K2A pi4k2a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PI4K2A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
