Related Product Information for anti-NF-H antibody
Neurofilaments are the 10nm or intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, and are composed predominantly of three major proteins called NF-L, NF-M and NF-H, though other proteins may also be present. NF-H is the neurofilament high or heavy molecular weight polypeptide and runs on SDS-PAGE gels at 200-220kDa, with some variability across species boundaries. Antibodies to NF-H are useful for identifying axonal processes in tissue sections and in culture. NF-H antibodies can also be useful in visualizing neurofilament accumulations seen in many neurological disorders, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease), Alzheimer's disease and following a traumatic injury.

NCBI Description

Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and functionally maintain neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. This gene encodes the heavy neurofilament protein. This protein is commonly used as a biomarker of neuronal damage and susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been associated with mutations in this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

Uniprot Description

NFH: Neurofilaments usually contain three intermediate filament proteins: L, M, and H which are involved in the maintenance of neuronal caliber. NF-H has an important function in mature axons that is not subserved by the two smaller NF proteins. Belongs to the intermediate filament family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The NF-H nefh (Catalog #AAA556085) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Neurofilament NF-H reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Bovine, Porcine, Equine and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Neurofilament NF-H can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). IF: 1:1,000 IHC: 1:1,000 ICC: 1:1,000 WB: 1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NF-H nefh for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neurofilament NF-H, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
